Time to Shut Her Down
Spring sprung a bit early in Aspen, so we’re responding to mother nature accordingly. This weekend marks the end of skiing at Aspen/Snowmass, with closing day festivities at Snowmass, Aspen and Highlands all happening with a bang. We’ve got the guide to making this one COUNT. Will you be celebrating at all three?
Saturday, April 14, is closing day at Snowmass, and the highlights include Schneetag, live Music by Jes Grew, Budweiser Beer Garden & a Dedicated Kid’s Zone with a dunk tank, face painting & more.
Now Schneetag is a hilarious event not to miss. The 5th annual Schneetag event (pronounced Sch-knee Tog) invites teams of four to create a craft that they will pilot down a slope at Spider Sabich and attempt to skim across a 100-ft pond. This is a video from last year to get you prepared:
Note, there is FREE PARKING in the base village parking garage, and there will be lots of sales at local retailers. The fun is from 2-8 p.m.
Highlands will close for the season this Sunday, April 15, one week prior to the scheduled closing. Record warm temperatures and low snowfall as well as more sunny, warm days in the forecast drove the decision. The legendary closing day party at Highlands will take place this Sunday, so that means wear your craziest outfit and be prepared to party away the afternoon with friends.
Aspen Mountain will close for the season on Sunday, April 15. Ajax Tavern will be open for brews, burgers and those infamous truffle fries. Or maybe your last apple strudel at Bonnie’s?
Also going on in town, don’t miss Aspen Film’s Shortsfest, with programs through Sunday, April 15.
